"Creativity is like driving a car at night," said E. L. Doctorow. "You never see further than your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way."
San Miguel Arts comes to you from San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, in the high desert mountains of central Mexico This is where the Mexican revolution started. Independence continues to be the guiding principal for its residents.
Quirky. Eccentric. Bitchy. Known as the Sodom and Gomorrah of Mexico among the more conservative Mexicans. Really, nothing is going on. Open and loving enough to let strangers, crazies, psychotics all join in. Small enough so that you eventually run into someone that you've been thinking about, everybody knows everybody elses stuff, secrets, and if they don't they'll make some up. It's also astoundingly beautiful, profoundly spiritual, hot, dry, remote, and loud. Parades, garbage truck bells, children, mariachi bands, singing, dogs, roosters, drumming, real living noises from a real city.
It's also filled with writers, artists, filmmakers, eccentrics, and criminals of all persuations.
Welcome.
